Trip Itinerary


Day One – Tues, March 6, 2018

  • Flights from SLC/LAS to LAX
  • Depart Tom Bradley (Terminal B) Los Angeles International Airport  for Amman, Jordan

Days Two – Wed, March 7, 2018

  • Arrive in the evening and transfer to your hotel in Amman

Day Three – Thu, March 8, 2018

  • Today you will visit St. George’s Cathedral in Madaba, where the 6th century mosaic map is displayed. This is one of the oldest maps of the Holy Land existing.
  • Next on to Mt. Nebo, the place where Moses is believed to be buried, and enjoy the panoramic view of the Jordan Valley. Tradition states that it was here that Moses had his first view of the Holy Land. We will visit the Church of Mt. Nebo which has well preserved mosaics that date back to the Byzantine era.
  • We will then travel to overnight in Petra Moon hotel.
  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner, provided.

Day Four – Fri, March 9, 2018

  • This morning we will begin our quest in the Valley of Petra. When we arrive at the gates of Petra we will be met by horses (horse back riding) that will take us to the entrance of the Siq. From there we will walk through a narrow slot canyon to finally see our first views of the wondrous royal tombs of Petra. This is truly one of the greatest wonders on earth! No wonder they filmed Indiana Jones here.
  • We will then travel and stay overnight in Petra hotel.
  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner, provided.

 

Day Five – Sat, March 10, 2018

  • Tour the historic region of Wadi Rum (Lawrence of Arabia fame). After our visit, we will travel to and cross the border at Eilat, Israel. Its sandy beaches and coral reefs are the most pristine on the Red Sea.
  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner, provided.

Day Six – Sun, March 11, 2018

  • Morning – Drive north through the Dead Sea basin. Here you will understand the reason this area was a refuse to prophets, zealots, and outcasts throughout time.
  • Visit Ein Gedi – King David’s Spring & Cave. Visit the banks of the Jordan River were it is beloved that the Savior was Baptized by John the Baptist. From the desert floor of the Dead Sea Basin ascend by cable car to the spectacular cliff-top fortress of Masada, where a community of over 900 Jews preferred death at their own swords to the indignity of surrender to the overwhelming Roman forces.
  • Next check into your hotel on the banks of the Dead Sea.
  • Enjoy a floating experience in the saltiest body of water on earth.

Day Seven – Mon, March 12, 2018

  • Overview the miraculous discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls at Qumran.
  • Travel north to the fertile valley of the Sea of Galilee. You will follow the Jordan River Valley to your first stop at Bet She’an, the largest Roman ruin site in Israel. It was here that King Saul of the Old Testament was killed and his body was fastened to the city wall by the conquering Philistine armies.
  • Next stop at Yardenit a beautiful site on the Jordan River where people from all over the world gather to remember the baptism of Christ by John.
  • Now enjoy your first view of the Sea of Galilee.
  • Overnight at Ein Gev kibbutz on the shores of this beautiful lake surrounded by so much spiritual history.
  • Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner provided

Day Eight – Tue, March 13, 2018

  • Mt Tabor is one of the traditional sites claimed to be the site of the transfiguration. Here you will review the events leading up to that glorious event.
  • Next to the Mt. of Beatitudes where Jesus preached the Sermon on the Mount. Nearby is Capernaum, where many miracles were performed.
  • End your day sailing on the Sea of Galilee remembering the Great Fisherman of men teaching his disciples eternal truths. Overnight at Ein Gev kibbutz on the shores of this beautiful lake surrounded by so much spiritual history.

Day Nine – Wed, March 14, 2018

  • Begin the day with a morning devotional about the greatest announcement given to man, in Nazareth, “For unto you a child is born…”. Here Christ will spend his childhood and “grew and waxed strong in spirit.”” Not far away is Megiddo, the site of ancient bloody battles.
  • Upon these same fields, the great and terrible last battle of Armageddon will be fought. Ascend Mt. Carmel where the prophet Elijah and the priests of Baal contested their faith. Enter Caesarea, remains of a city founded by Herod, residence of Pontius Pilate and prison for the apostle Paul. Here he will preach and almost convert Felix to almost become a Christian. Late this afternoon visit the city of Joppa with its history of Jonah, and also Peter’s great vision to take the gospel to all the world. Overnight in a hotel in Tel Aviv

Day Ten – Thu, March 15, 2018

  • Travel to the city of gold, Jerusalem.
  • Today discover the treasures of the Israel Museum and the Shrine of the Book, which houses the Dead Sea Scrolls and the stunning Model City of Old Jerusalem. One of the most moving sites to visit is Yad Vashem, the official memorial to the 6 million Jews who perished in the Holocaust during WWII.
  • After a lunch visit City of David and Davidson Center with the excavations of the original City of David outside the Walls of the Old City.

Day Eleven – Fri, March 16, 2018

  • This morning we starts at Western Wall Tunnels – are a sort of “time tunnel” to ancient Jerusalem and every visitor is swept back directly to Jerusalem’s glory days as they were during the 1st century CE.
  • Proceed to Bethlehem to visit the Church of Nativity where Jesus was born and the Shepherds Fields where the shepherds were tending their flocks when they heard a heavenly chorus and followed the Star to Bethlehem
  • Return to Jerusalem, visit to Mt. Zion to see Caiphas’s house of Judgment and the nearby Upper Room

Day Twelve – Sat, March 17, 2018

  • Start your Sabbath off with a visit to the Garden of Gethsemane at the base of the Mt. of Olives.
  • Visit the Orion Hyde Memorial Garden. Here envision the momentous event of the atonement which took place here. Next attend a sacrament meeting at the remarkable BYU Jerusalem Center.
  • The full length windows of the chapel reveal a breath taking view of the old city and the Temple Mount.
  • Next at the beautiful Garden Tomb, there is a limestone hill, which many revere as Golgotha, site of the crucifixion.
  • Just steps from the hill enter an ancient tomb that perhaps was the final resting place for the mortal remains of the Savior.

Day Thirteen – Sun, March 18, 2018

  • Today we starts on the Dome of the Rock, the Mosque of Al Aqsa, the Dome of the Prophet and the Dome of Elijah.
  • Enter the oldest quarter of Jerusalem to visit the Pools of Bethesda, the Via Dolorosa with its stations of the cross, leading to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.
  • After a lunch free time at the Old City.
  • Accommodations in Jerusalem.
  • Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner provided.

Day Fourteen – Mon, March 19, 2018

  • Transfer to the airport for departure.
