Lunch at Bunratty Castle, a premier heritage attraction in County Clare near Shannon Airport. It combines a beautifully preserved 15th-century medieval tower house with an immersive 19th-century living history museum. The castle, the most complete and authentic in Ireland, features grand halls, spiral staircases, ancient tapestries, and armor, offering a glimpse into medieval life. Surrounding it on 26 acres of scenic countryside is the Bunratty Folk Park, a recreated rural village with over 30 authentic buildings, including thatched cottages, farmhouses, shops, a school, and working demonstrations of traditional crafts.

After visit the enchanting Blarney Castle (15thcentury medieval tower house near Cork), where you can climb the narrow spiral stairs and over the battlements to kiss the legendary Blarney Stone—said to bestow the legendary "gift of the gab" (eloquence and persuasive charm). Explore the castle's impressive battlements, wander through lush gardens, and discover the mystical Rock Close with its ancient yew trees, druidic stones, and enchanting folklore-inspired features.
Then head to the dramatic Rock of Cashel ("St. Patrick’s Rock") in County Tipperary—an iconic hilltop complex that was once the seat of Irish high kings and a key center of early Christianity. Marvel at the 12thcentury Romanesque Cormac’s Chapel with its intricate frescoes, the soaring Round Tower, and the grand Gothic cathedral ruins offering sweeping panoramic views.

London & British Church History
Morning, Breakfast at the hotel before departing with Guide Peter Fagg for a day of British and Church History in London.
We journey from Southwark, following Wilford Woodruff, Heber C. Kimball, and George A. Smith, discovering the connection between Charles Dickens and the Mormons, John Lathropp and the clink, and Shakespeare and the Globe. We cross the Thames (destroyed by Death Eaters!) and ascend to St. Paul’s Cathedral. Without entering, we stroll through the grounds, following the footsteps of kings, queens, martyrs, missionaries, reformers, and playwrights. We learn about Wilford Woodruff’s visit and Stationer’s Hall’s significance in preserving LDS scriptures.
Bunhill Fields, a renowned nonconformist burial ground, is the resting place of notable nonconformists. We visit the Wesley home and tabernacle, the UK Methodist equivalent of Temple Square. Wilford Woodruff expressed frustrations at this site. We learn about George Whitefield’s Tabernacle and Tabernacle Square, and the tender mercies the first LDS missionaries received while converting the first London Saints.

Stonehenge, Lacock Abbey, Bath & Wales
After breakfast at the hotel, we depart London for Stonehenge, a magical, mythical, and mysterious prehistoric monument. Despite modern analysis, we still don’t fully comprehend this structure, but we stand in awe of our ancient forefathers’ remarkable capabilities.
Lunch at OYO Stonehenge before heading to the picturesque village of Lacock, where every house is a beautiful backdrop for numerous famous movies.
Next, visit the UNESCO city of Bath, a Georgian city known for its picturesque streets and ancient Roman baths. Explore the contributions of Beau Nash, John Wood Senior and Junior, and Jane Austen to shaping an era of unparalleled pleasures, civility, pomp, and arrogance. After, travel to Vale Resort in Wales.
Once we check-in, enjoy dinner at the Resort Hotel.

After breakfast at the hotel, depart for Blaenavon and explore South Wales, known for its coal and iron production, and the setting for the film “How Green Was My Valley.” We’ll see how this industrial landscape helped spread the Restored Gospel through Dan Jones and Welsh converts.
First, visit Blaenavon Iron Works, an industrial powerhouse filled with heartbreaking stories of how the furnaces powered the Industrial Revolution. Then, explore the United Brethren sites: Benbow’s Farm and Castle Frome, where the faith and sacrifices of John and Jane Benbow, along with the Kington family, are recounted through miraculous events.
Explore Ledbury, a medieval market town, and learn about William Carter, Utah’s first ploughman, and a welcoming Baptist church. Follow Wilford Woodruff, Willard Richards, and Brigham Young to Herefordshire Beacon for a significant meeting. Discover the influence of early converts like Thomas Kington, William Pitt, and James Palmer in Nauvoo. Experience faith amidst miracles and persecutions in these villages. Visit the restored Gadfield Elm Chapel, Britain’s first LDSowned meeting place and an iconic symbol of the United Brethren’s history.
Lunch in the Big Pit area, then a guided tour 300 feet underground to experience Welsh mining families’ hard work. View multimedia displays on King Coal and Pit Head Baths. Return via Merthyr Tydfil, a successful early missionary area.

Visit the restored Gadfield Elm Chapel, Britain’s first LDS-owned meeting place, renowned for its association with Wilford Woodruff and the United Brethren. Explore Herefordshire Beacon, where you can follow the footsteps of Woodruff, Richards, and Young during a significant meeting, and experience the early influence of the Nauvoo movement on the converts.
Lunch OYO in Ledbury, followed by hearing the story of William Carter. Afterward, travel to Benbow’s Farm and Castle Frome to learn about remarkable feats of faith and sacrifice.

Liverpool served as the arrival point for hundreds of missionaries and the departure point for thousands of emigrants as they traveled to Zion throughout the 19th century. Explore the city’s LDS/ American ties, including Liverpool’s history with slaves, cotton, and Civil War claims. Visit the restored Albert Docks to learn about emigrant life, the Sea Trek monument, and notable LDS figures.
After lunch OYO: Experience the Magical Mystery - Beatles Tour and enter the famous “Cavern Club”!

Breakfast at the hotel before traveling to the Preston Temple, where we learn about the tender mercies involved in construction of the temple and temple’s beautifully landscaped grounds.
Preston, the birthplace of British Mormonism and home to significant historical sites, including: lodgings where evil spirits allegedly attacked, the River Ribble where the first British baptisms took place in 1837, Vauxhall Chapel, and the cockpit where the first British Conference was held in 1837. Other notable locations include: Joseph Smith’s dentist, the cursed stone, the 1842 riot, Kimball’s prophecy, LDS shorthand, and the Deseret Alphabet.
Lunch at OYO at Clitheroe High Street. After, experience the picturesque countryside and charm of Ribble Valley to Downham village, learn about historical missionary encounters while viewing the villages and rolling hills that inspired J.R.R. Tolkien works, such as The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. Arthur Conan Doyle was also influenced by the area, inspiring the Sherlock Holmes series, with a unique LDS twist.

Breakfast at the hotel. Afterward, attend the Sacrament Meeting at the Kendal Branch, located at: Sandes Avenue, Kendal, LA9 4LL.
Lunch at OYO in Bowness, Lake Windermere. Afterward, embark on a scenic cruise from Bowness to Ambleside, sailing on the largest lake in the region, spanning 10 miles of the breathtaking waters.
The Lake District, birthplace of notable figures like the Quakers, Romneys, Wordsworth, and Ruskin, also preserved the Doctrine and Covenants and laid the foundation for the Toronto miracle. Drive through the Valley of Champions of Liberty, and John Taylor sites, including: places of birth, christening, employment, and the last home before emigrating to Canada.
Visit Sarah Nelson’s Gingerbread Shop, a charming 17th-century school building near St Oswald’s Church (since 1854), famous for gingerbread, made with a secret recipe of the finest biscuit and cake ingredients.

Stirling Castle - Scottish Highlands
After breakfast at the hotel, depart Windermere for Gretna Green, a rest stop over the Scottish border known for romantic elopements.
After, explore Stirling Castle. Perched atop Castle Rock, the “key to Scotland” (due to its strategic position guarding the HighlandsLowlands route), the castle has witnessed centuries of conflict, including: The Wars of Scottish Independence. The Castle witnessed the Battle of Stirling Bridge (1297) and Bannockburn (1314), stood as a witness to William Wallace’s triumph over the English and the subsequent Scottish independence under Robert the Bruce. In the 16th century, James V embarked on a transformation of the Royal Palace, incorporating intricate Renaissance carvings, the Stirling Heads, and symbolic unicorn tapestries. After visiting the castle David O Mckay, as Missionary, had a meaningful experience, we discuss modernrecreations of his ‘crisis stone’.
Later, depart for the Scottish Highlands!

Breakfast at the hotel before embarking on one of Britain's most scenic drives through Glencoe and Fort William—crags, lochs, bens, and glens straight out of the movies. Visit Glencoe, a stunning valley of dramatic peaks and lochs. The valley is forever marked by the tragic Massacre of Glencoe (1692), where government troops, housed with the MacDonald clan, received secret orders to kill the MacDonald Clan for not swearing allegiance to William III. The incident symbolizes betrayal among clan rivalries.
Breakfast at the hotel before embarking on one of Britain's most scenic drives through Glencoe and Fort William—crags, lochs, bens, and glens straight out of the movies. Visit Glencoe, a stunning valley of dramatic peaks and lochs. Later, rest stop in Pitlochry, then Monster hunt along Loch Ness (cameras ready for Nessie!), the legendary deep freshwater loch famed for sightings of the elusive creature since the 6th century (St. Columba's encounter). Tour Urquhart Castle, a ruined medieval fortress on a promontory overlooking the loch, dating back to the 13th century. It changed hands repeatedly during the Wars of Independence, was partially destroyed in 1692 to prevent Jacobite use, and offers stunning views—perfect for Nessie spotting! Lunch (OYO) at the castle.
Free time in Pitlochry, then onward to Edinburgh. Enjoy dinner after check-in OYO.

Breakfast at before departing for Edinburgh Castle.
Enjoy a guided city tour of Edinburgh Castle. Edinburgh Castle, perched atop Castle Rock in Edinburgh, is a historic landmark with origins dating back to the Iron Age. Established as a royal castle in the 11th century, it has served as a residence, military fortress, prison, and treasury for over a millennium. Witnessing numerous sieges, it houses treasures like the Honours of Scotland, the Great Hall, St Margaret’s Chapel, and the One O’Clock Gun. Dominating the city’s skyline, it symbolizes Scottish resilience and heritage, attracting millions of visitors to explore its architecture, views, and stories.
Lunch OYO in Edinburgh.
After, depart for St. Andrews We begin our walkabout on the beach with a classic view of St. Andrews made famous in the Chariots of Fire movie. Besides being famous as the home of golf we also learn of the town’s famous martyrs, visit their martyrdom sites, and explore the ruins of its ancient castle and monastic ruin. This community played a huge part in the Scottish Reformation and many paid dearly for their involvement.
Depart for Edinburgh of Glasgow to prepare for departure.

About Peter Fagg
Born in Canterbury, Kent, and one of eleven children. Educated at Southern Utah University (BSC) and Ball State University, Indiana (MA). Peter has been conducting tours since 1995, and became a registered Blue Badge Guide in 2000. He Has conducted tours for a wide variety of groups from around the world including Adult Education classes, church groups, youth groups, and other clubs/ organizations.
Peter's speciality is British Mormon history and most of his tours are on this subject. He also specializes in tours of the City of Preston, Industrial Lancashire and the beautiful Ribble Valley, but he is happy to give a tour of just about anywhere!
Peter is married to Nicola, and they are the proud parents of six children.
