About This Journey
This journey follows a natural flow across Argentina: it begins in Buenos Aires, the country’s cultural and culinary capital, for an immersive introduction to its historic landmarks, neighborhoods, and tango tradition. From there we travel south to Ushuaia (Tierra del Fuego) for End-of-the-World landscapes and Beagle Channel navigation, then on to El Calafate, the gateway to the glaciers of Los Glaciares National Park, before returning to Buenos Aires for the final night and departure. Experience the splendor of Patagonia in the fall!
Guests may optionally extend the trip with the Peru Tour Extension (Cusco & Machu Picchu, 6 nights) and/or the Amazon River Extension (Iquitos, 3 nights) – both shown as continuing days in this itinerary and booked/priced separately as add-ons.

Day 1

City of Origin / Buenos Aires
Arrival in Buenos Aires, the vibrant capital of Argentina and one of the most elegant and cosmopolitan cities in South America. Founded in the 16th century on the shores of the Río de la Plata, Buenos Aires combines strong European influence with a unique Argentine identity reflected in its grand architecture, wide boulevards, historic cafés, and the passionate culture of tango.
After immigration procedures and baggage claim, meet-and-greet at the airport followed by a private transfer to the hotel. The afternoon is free to rest or enjoy a first introduction to the city by exploring nearby cafés, bookstores, or strolling along its elegant avenues.
Optional: In the evening, visit the Buenos Aires Argentina Temple (LDS Temple), or alternatively a tango show may be arranged.
Fun fact: Buenos Aires is nicknamed the “Paris of South America,” and many of its grand avenues and Belle Époque buildings reflect the strong European immigration of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Day 2

Buenos Aires City Tour
A half-day city tour exploring the most important highlights of Argentina’s capital, beginning along Avenida 9 de Julio, one of the widest avenues in the world, passing the iconic Obelisk and the magnificent Teatro Colón. Continue to the historic Plaza de Mayo, surrounded by the Casa Rosada (Presidential Palace), the Cabildo, and the Metropolitan Cathedral.
The tour proceeds through the traditional district of San Telmo and La Boca, famous for its colorful houses and the lively Caminito street museum, continuing to the modern waterfront district of Puerto Madero and the elegant neighborhoods of Palermo and Recoleta.
Return to the hotel for an included lunch. Optional suggestions include the Recoleta Cemetery, the National Library, the historic ship museum Fragata Sarmiento, or a guided visit inside Teatro Colón.

Day 3

Buenos Aires to Ushuaia (Flight)
Morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world, located in Tierra del Fuego. Upon arrival, meet-and-greet at the airport followed by transfer to the hotel. The remainder of the day is free to explore the town center, stroll along San Martín Avenue, or enjoy views of the Beagle Channel.
Ushuaia grew from a remote mission and former penal colony into a gateway to Antarctica, and its nickname “End of the World” reflects its dramatic setting between mountains and sea.

Day 4
Date : April 2, 2027
End of the World Train, Tierra del Fuego National Park & Beagle Channel
Morning transfer to the station of the famous End of the World Train, beginning a combined excursion to Tierra del Fuego National Park (park admission not included). Return to Ushuaia around 1:00 p.m. for lunch (not included).
In the afternoon, transfer to the port for a 2h30m catamaran navigation through the Beagle Channel, passing Sea Lion Island, Bird Island, and the Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse. Return to the hotel in the evening.
Local insight: The Beagle Channel was named after HMS Beagle (the ship that carried Charles Darwin), and Tierra del Fuego’s subantarctic forests are among the southernmost on Earth.

Day 5
Date : April 3, 2027
Lake Escondido & Lake Fagnano
Depart to visit Lake Escondido and Lake Fagnano, crossing the Fuegian Andes. The route includes winter resorts and the Cerro Castor Ski Center (chairlift not included). Enjoy an included Patagonian lamb lunch during the excursion.
Return to Ushuaia around 4:00 p.m. The evening is free to explore the town, visit museums, or enjoy shopping in the city’s duty-free stores.
Fun fact: Lake Fagnano (also called Lake Khami) is one of the largest lakes on the island, named after an Italian missionary who worked in Tierra del Fuego.

Day 6
Date : April 4, 2027
Ushuaia to El Calafate (Flight)
Optional morning church services in Ushuaia (subject to opening hours and local access rules), followed by an included lunch at a local restaurant (one soft drink included). Transfer to the airport for your flight to El Calafate, gateway to Los Glaciares National Park. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel.
The remainder of the day is free to explore the town center, visit artisan shops, or enjoy views of Lake Argentino. The town is named after the calafate berry – local folklore says that whoever tastes it is destined to return to Patagonia.

Day 7

El Calafate – Free Time, Optional Ice-Trekking & Estancia Dinner
Free time to explore El Calafate at your own pace. Your tour guide is available to offer suggestions, such as visiting the town center, exploring the Glaciarium (Patagonian Ice Museum), or an optional ice-trekking excursion on the Perito Moreno Glacier (must be reserved in advance).
In the evening, depart for a visit to a traditional Patagonian estancia, where you may experience sheep shearing demonstrations and a memorable Patagonian dinner (included).
Optional: Attend the LDS Temple in El Calafate.

Day 8
Date : April 6, 2027
Glaciares Gourmet Navigation & Perito Moreno Glacier
Morning transfer to La Soledad Port in Punta Bandera (45 km) for a full-day navigation on Lake Argentino aboard the Glaciares Gourmet cruise ship María Turquesa, sailing the northern arm of Lake Argentino. Lunch on board (not included).
Sail among impressive glaciers including the magnificent Spegazzini Glacier, the vast Upsala Glacier, and the world-famous Perito Moreno Glacier – part of the Patagonian Ice Field, the largest ice mass on Earth outside Antarctica.
Following the navigation, visit the Perito Moreno Glacier walkways inside Los Glaciares National Park for spectacular panoramic views, with the possibility of witnessing dramatic ice calving.
Return to El Calafate in the late afternoon, arriving back at the hotel around 6:30 PM.
Natural wonder: Perito Moreno is famous for its cyclical ice ruptures, when water pressure gradually builds until an ice bridge collapses in a dramatic and thunderous natural spectacle.

Day 9

El Calafate to Buenos Aires (Flight)
Morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Buenos Aires. Arrival, reception, and transfer to the hotel. The remainder of the day is free for shopping or independent exploration.
In the evening, we suggest attending an unforgettable tango show at Señor Tango or Tango Porteño.
Did you know? Tango was born in the working-class port neighborhoods of Buenos Aires in the late 1800s, blending African rhythms, European melodies, and local traditions into Argentina’s most famous art form.

Buenos Aires – Depart for USA, or Continue to Peru Extension
For guests concluding their journey here: transfer to the airport for your return flight to the USA.
For guests continuing on the optional Peru Tour Extension (Cusco & Machu Picchu, booked separately): depart Buenos Aires on a flight to Lima, Peru. Arrive and overnight in Lima (accommodations TBA).
Day 11

Peru Extension – Arrival in Cusco
Optional Peru Tour Extension – Cusco & Machu Picchu (6 nights).
Depart Lima on a LATAM flight to Cusco, Peru. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel to relax and adjust to the higher altitude. Tour guides will be waiting at the Cusco airport; we recommend drinking the famous coca tea, known for helping with altitude sickness symptoms.
Important note: Cusco sits at approximately 11,000 feet (3,350 meters) above sea level, so we highly recommend taking a few hours to acclimatize before exploring the beautiful Historic Center of Cusco. Afternoon and evening are free to explore the city.

Archaeological City Tour in Cusco
Tour Highlights: Cusco Cathedral, the ruins of Sacsayhuamán, Q’enko, Puka Pukara, and Tambomachay.
Explore this remarkable city with an expert-guided tour, visiting the archaeological sites and wonders in and around Cusco.
Optional visit: The Qosqo Center of Native Arts has daily presentations of typical Andean music and dance from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.; tickets are already included in the package.

Day 13

Sacred Valley of the Incas to Aguas Calientes
Tour Highlights: Sacred Valley, Awanacancha, Cochahuasi, Pisac Market, Ollantaytambo, and the train ride to Aguas Calientes.
Depart in the morning for the Sacred Valley of the Incas. First stop is the Awanacancha Traditional Textile Museum, followed by a visit to the Cochahuasi animal sanctuary to see the Andean Condor. Continue to Pisac, recognized for its authentic cultural expression and archaeological site.
Lunch in Urubamba, at the heart of the Sacred Valley. Finish the day in Ollantaytambo, one of the oldest villages in the valley with its own towering archaeological site, before boarding the train to Aguas Calientes, a town nestled in the mountains of the Peruvian jungle.

Machu Picchu Private Guided Tour
Tour Highlights: Machu Picchu, with hiking trail options.
Early morning, head to the bus station in Aguas Calientes for a 30-minute ride up to the secluded citadel. Meet your expert English-speaking guide for a tour of the most important sites in Machu Picchu, including the Intihuatana (Sun Stone), the Sun Temple, and the Room of Three Windows – appreciating the intricate stonework hauled by hand to the mountaintop centuries ago.
Depart Aguas Calientes by train for Urubamba.

Day 15

Salt Mines & Moray on the Way Back to Cusco
Depart from the train station of Ollantaytambo by car, enjoying impressive landscapes along the way. The first stop is a textile center to observe the production of llama, alpaca, and other wool, followed by the archaeological site of Moray, where the Incas experimented with agricultural techniques across circular terraces reaching roughly 150 meters in depth.
Continue to the town of Maras to learn about its colonial architecture, concluding at the Maras Salt Mines, where locals still extract salt using traditional Incan methods across some 3,000 salt pools. Return to the city of Cusco, marking the end of the Sacred Valley touring.

Departure to Lima & USA, or Continue to Amazon Extension
For guests concluding the Peru Extension here: depart for Lima and connect with your flight to the USA.
For guests continuing on the optional Amazon River Extension (Iquitos, booked separately): fly to Lima and connect onward to Iquitos, Peru – a Peruvian port city and gateway to the jungle lodges and tribal villages of the northern Amazon. Arrival and transfer to the Victoria Regina Hotel, with free time to explore and shop in Iquitos.

Day 17

Amazon Extension – Boat Transfer to Heliconia Lodge
Optional Amazon River Extension – Iquitos & Amazon River Adventure (3 nights).
Travel up the Amazon River by boat to the Heliconia Amazon River Lodge, taking in life on the river along the way, including the small wooden boats locals use to travel up and down the river. Upon arrival at the lodge, get settled in and take a dip in the pool. This jungle paradise will be your home for the next two nights.
Activities included at the lodge feature jungle walks with expert guides who explain the many uses of jungle plants and wildlife, spotting pink dolphins on the Amazon River, fishing for piranhas, and visiting a jungle village with the opportunity to view and hold sloths, monkeys, and snakes.
